These are the one crab that may be able to be breed in captivity.
These are from the Amazon basin on the east side of the Andes Mountains
in Peru. It seems like it would be geographically impossible for the hatched
larvae to reach salt water to develop. They more then likely have a
planktonic stage but it probably is in freshwater.

Comments
These are the most docile crab I have worked with. If they were mixed
with any crayfish or crab they would be killed. They can be mixed with
algae eating shrimp and smaller Macrobrachium species.
