Aquaboy Aquatics specializes in Freshwater Invertebrates. This is an all-too-often
overlooked section of the aquarium hobby. There are so many species that you can find and
an invert for almost any aquarium setup. Our hatchery consists of freshwater shrimp,
crayfish, crabs, clams, mussels and snails. These are almost a necessity in any aquaria.
We are a small family business. We are not a large flow-thru
wholesale type shop. Our hatchery consists of approximately 1500 gallons of
basement fish room. We breed most of our shrimp here. We do also import some that can
not be bred
in captivity or can not be bred fast enough. Anything we import is here for at least 2 weeks
before they are
shipped. This is needed for them to recover from the long trip before they go on
another trip to you. We stock only the highest quality inverts. This is possible
because we are small. Each aquarium has
individual attention from me and my family.
We try to promote proper aquarium maintenance. This seems to be an impossible task for
some of us. IT’S NOT! We go to the local fish store and get sold a huge high-tech and
priced aquarium setup. We take it home, set it up, fire up that $100 filter and all the pumps
and light show, plastic boat that blows bubbles, plastic plants, etc. Now the first thing is all
that plastic in the tank. When have you ever passed a stream or lake and saw all kinds of
tires and lawn chairs and soda bottles or old kids’ toys and thought <Pics of dirty water
here>“That’s beautiful, the way we decorated”? The biggest reason most people fail with
aquariums: we also try to re-create an environment with most of the food chain missing. It’s
all due to the lack of information available.

The best motto for the thriving aquaria is to keep water and not animals. If you take care of
your water, the rest will take care of itself.
