Some Info on breeding crabs.
|
Most crabs breed in the spring. The female carries the eggs under her belly until it is time for
them to hatch; the young are then released into the ocean. At this stage they are planktonic.
They will not return to the land and bays until they are developed into miniature crabs. Breeding
crabs in the aquarium is not an option at this time. However, we have imported 2 species from
Peru that may be able to be breed. There is also a crab from Lake Malawi in Africa that may be
able to be bred.
