When it comes to aquariums the shrimp are the most readily available. There are shrimp that can
fit into just about any aquarium theme. There are several genera that we see in the hobby. Some
are the Caradina, Neocaridina, and Palaemonetes algae-eating
group; the Atyopsis and Atya, the filter feeders; and the
Macrobrachium complex, which includes the largest freshwater
shrimp in the world, giant prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii).

that filter out food particles from the water column as they pass.
You usually will find them perched where the current is strongest
in your tank, waving their fans all day long. When there is not
enough food in the water column they will pinch their fans
together in a hand shape and pick at the gravel for leftover food
particles. They are a very adaptive group of shrimp.
The Macrobrachium group is huge. There are macros in almost every part of the world. This group,
as mentioned above, contains the giant river prawn. These shrimp can attain a length of 2 feet
including the claws. They are predators and should only be housed in species-only tanks. There are
many smaller macros that are suitable tank mates for the other shrimp fish and crays we have. Please
check the compatibility chart for each species you purchase. If you are putting your new shrimp in
an already-established aquarium and are unsure, please do not hesitate to email me. I will do my best
to answer any compatibility concerns.

Palaemonetes groups. The first two have some of the most beautiful
colors to even rival the saltwater inverts. The more common Cherry
Red and Bumblebee Shrimp are beautiful animals for a small 10 or 20
gallon aquarium. They will also breed readily in these conditions
There is nothing more rewarding in the hobby then breeding the
animals you care for. When you breed them it is natures way of
telling you that all your hard work and research has paid off. The
ecosystem you have created is fully functional. Not only functional
but thriving under the care of you. This group is also a great group
to get the children evolved. The cheaper Neocaridina Browns are
cheep and not demanding as far as water requirements. The Cherry
Reds are also just as easy to breed.

ATTENTION! We are in the process of moving too Pennsylvania. During the move I will not be shipping orders. This move has had its delays. I will not be responding to email or phone call during this period I apologize for any inconvenience.
There is good news, Some of the species I carry are breeding well. The Dwarf Crayfish especially have been brewing well. I will also stock many more inverts. The new invert room is 2 times the size. Again I apologize for the inconvenience.
